There’s a lot of confusion out there around nutrition. Quite a lot of misinformation, outdated assumptions, and far too many urban myths about food! It can feel overwhelming trying to figure out what we should be eating, with all the conflicting advice that seems to pop up in the media.
People are often unsure about whether they should eat fat or not, with fats being wrongly demonised in the past. Carbs have received a bad rap recently, but the truth about them isn’t always so black and white. There’s also the never-ending worry about how many eggs we can safely eat. Some claim they’re a heart attack waiting to happen, while others tout them as a protein powerhouse. Plus, metabolism and weight management can feel like a constant puzzle, especially when so much of the information out there seems contradictory.
Nutrition can be a real minefield, and it’s no surprise that many of us don’t know exactly what we should be doing. After all, with all the advice flying around, it’s easy to get lost. Headlines that tell us one thing today and another tomorrow only add to the confusion. One day we’re told to avoid coffee at all costs, and the next it’s being hailed as a superfood. Red wine is said to be heart-healthy and should be consumed daily, but then there’s another article claiming that alcohol consumption in any form is linked to a shorter lifespan.
With so much noise in the nutrition space, it’s no wonder that we’re left scratching our heads!
